As the City of Temple continues to upgrade critical infrastructure, the Public Works department is now ready to start the installation of a 12” water main on East Young Avenue. Work between East 10th Street and Lower Troy Road is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 18th. Crews will be boring underneath the railroad to install the new water main, perform pressure and bacteria testing, and then restore the roadway. In order to perform the work, a small portion of East Young Avenue over the railroad tracks will be closed during the day between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with local access remaining for residents. Thru traffic will be detoured to East Shell Avenue and North 10th Street during those times. This daytime closure is scheduled to be in place for three weeks. Residents with inquiries about the project should reach out to the City of Temple Engineering Department at 298-5660.
