Rumor has it that a singing Santa Claus will appear at this year’s concert presented by the Texas Country Gentlemen Chorus on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 PM: Cultural Activities Center in Temple. Special guest quartet, Southern Stride, from San Antonio will be performing. This mixed quartet has performed frequently in the San Antonio area as well as in Las Vegas, Orlando and Salt Lake City. In 2018 Southern Stride placed 4th in the World Mixed Quartet Championships held in Germany. Recently, the group opened for the official Disney acappella group, Dcappella in Austin and for Jay Leno’s stand-up comedy tour at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio. The quartet features Diane Stanley (tenor), Manny Lopez (Lead), Peter Cunningham (baritone) and Wallace Stanley (bass). Hear them on Facebook. Local award winning quartet ‘hmmm’, will also performing. Proceeds help to support the vocal music program at Temple College, The Salvation Army of Central Texas, and the charity, Veteran’s One Stop in Waco, TX. (veteransonestop.org). Directed by Mike Reid, The Texas Country Gentlemen Chorus, a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, is a charitable organization whose goals include the production of quality a cappella vocal music. The chorus also contributes to the ‘Harmony Foundation’, a charitable branch of the Society dedicated to the encouragement of singing and vocal performance in today’s youth.
