The Members of Central Texas Area Model Railroaders Inc. are hosting the 37th Annual Temple Model Train Show in Temple, Texas. It is being held the weekend of September 21 and 22 this year 2019 at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center located at 3303 North 3rd Street. The Club is located in the Moody Depot near the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum and Santa Fe Plaza. The times for the show are Saturday 21 September from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. The Show consists of Model Railroaders Exhibits, Operating Modular Layouts, Model Train Sales for all sizes and Railroad related items for Sale. It is a “Carnival” of Trains for all ages. There is a $7.00 entry fee but a $1.00 discount is available for Adults 65 and older and Military personnel with active, reserve, dependent, or retired I.D. Also children 12 and under are Free when accompanied by an adult. Come and see “Railroading in Minature”. The club was originated in the mid 1980’s with the advent of Temple’s “Texas Train Festival”. They began by building modules from each member; put together to form a model layout to run trains on. They assembled the modules for display at other train shows in and around Texas. The club evolved to the organization it is now, which operates HO, N and O scale permanent layouts in the authentic Santa Fe Depot from Moody, Texas relocated to downtown Temple. Rail Fans may enjoy this location because it is located next to active Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. The club normally meets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month and opens the doors for free entry from 1 -5 pm those days.
