By: Tanya Gray, Keep Temple Beautiful for the August 2019 Focus on Business We recognize that clean neighborhoods benefit everyone! To help address the ongoing problem of litter in our community, Keep Temple Beautiful (KTB) is encouraging community members to help clean, beautify and improve their neighborhoods by adopting certain areas and trails. Have you ever experienced a feeling of what can be done about the litter on a particular street/trail in your neighborhood, in front of your office space, or on your drive home? Well, KTB’s Come Clean Campaign offers multiple ways to get involved through our Adopt-a-Street and trail programs. You supply the time, energy and enthusiasm and we will supply the t-shirts, trash bags, gloves, vests and many, many thanks. Now you can get your favorite group to be a part of the Adopt-a-Street/Trail programs or just to do a simple cleanup? Nothing says more about community pride than a group of people working to keep the areas in which they live litter free. Enrollment for the Adopt-a-Street or Adopt-a-Trail programs are easy. Your group only has to commit to 4 clean-ups per year at your own pace and choosing! Groups who participate will have their name listed on signage installed on their adopted street. On Saturday, July 27th our newest adopt-a-street group, Baylor Scott & White (BSW) Center for Diagnostic Medicine adopted Avenue R and 25 Street. The group along with friends and family were presented a proclamation by Mayor Tim Davis and Keep Temple Beautiful executive director, Tanya Gray. We commend BSW Center for Diagnostic Medicine in joining other community organizations and businesses to maintain Temple area streets and trails on a regular basis throughout the year. They are performing a valuable community service and a shining example of putting community first. The Adopt-a-Street/Trail programs were established to address the ongoing problem of litter. As you can see, anyone can participate! Organize your family, community group, employee group, school or religious institution to participate in the Come Clean Campaign. Through this collaborative effort, we can all make a positive difference in the appearance and health of Temple.
