The Temple College Business and Continuing Education Division is offering a series of three courses this summer for people who would like to develop their skills in leadership and human resource management. A course on Communicating for Leadership Success will be offered Tuesday, July 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This course teaches leaders the skills they need to handle the variety of challenges and opportunities they encounter every day in the workplace. Interested participants should register by July 8. A course on Building and Sustaining Trust will be offered Tuesday, July 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course covers actions leaders can take to build and sustain trusting relations, as well as common “trust breakers” that can erode or quickly break trust. Interested participants should register by July 15. A course on Resolving Workplace Conflict will be offered Tuesday, July 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This course teaches leaders how to recognize the signs of escalating conflict and take appropriate action to minimize damage. Interested participants should register by July 22. The fee for each course is $199, which includes lunch. All courses will be held in Berry Hall on the Temple College campus in Temple. In partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Temple College also is offering the SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management course four Thursday evenings beginning July 25. This course covers topics such as employment law, selecting qualified employees, compensation, orientation and training, and the employee performance process. The fee for this course is $549, and interested participants should register by July 17 to avoid a $75 late fee.
