Interested young people are invited to explore all things space this summer as the Temple Public Library presents “A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading Program. Activities will feature story times and guest entertainment including puppetry, music, science experiments, and more! Teen programming will include improv activities, a drum circle, and a variety of crafts. Readers will also be rewarded with weekly incentives for reading books of their choosing. Children not currently reading on their own may participate with the help of a parent or caregiver by reading to them. “Our primary objective is to encourage school children to maintain their reading skills throughout the summer and support families in making reading an enjoyable part of daily life,” says Children’s Librarian, Erin Gaines. Registration begins May 28th. The kickoff event featuring Circus Chickendog will take place June 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Library. All programs are free of charge and sponsored by Friends of the Library, City of Temple, Drayton McLane, Jr., and Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces. For program details, visit www.templelibrary.us.
