As a part of the Live Well Initiative, the Temple Convention & Visitors Bureau is challenging the entire Temple community to get 1,000,000 steps in January with HealthCode’s free iResolve activity challenge. Participants will be encouraged to get moving and explore Temple’s many beautiful walking trails and parks, then log their steps using the iResolve Challenge on HealthCode.org. Walking 30 minutes every day has a big impact on overall health and wellbeing. According to Prevention Magazine, spending this short time each day will provide the following benefits: • Improved overall mood • Increase in creativity and higher brain function • Smaller waistline • Decreased risk of chronic disease • Better digestive system • Achieving this goal will make all others seem reachable! “We hope that the entire community will embrace this challenge, especially community leaders such as Baylor Scott & White, Wilson Art and Temple ISD” said Nancy Glover, CVB Director. “This is the perfect New Year challenge, and we think Temple is ready to tackle it!” Participants in the challenge are encouraged to take part in the Annual Resolution Run 5K on January 12th or to just jump on a treadmill at any of the many fitness facility in Temple. Once registered to participate in iResolve, participants can enter their total number of steps each day, week or at the end of the month by visiting the HealthCode.org website or by linking your Fitbit or other fitness tracker to automatically log your activities. The step log will be accessible from the event tab of the CVB Facebook Page – or by visiting our website at www.discovertemple.com. It is free to participate, however donations to the non-profit that runs the challenge are appreciated. Live Well in 2019 by starting off the New Year with a Million Steps!
