KICK THE KETTLE Campaign kicks off The Salvation Army of Bell County McLane Center of Hope officially kicked off the Red Kettle Campaign with a Kick The Kettle event Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Bell County Officers Majors Dan and Terrie Wilson along with Waco Officer, Major Jeff Miracle ‘kicked the kettle’ to KCEN-TV News Director Jim Hice. KCENTV is serving as the media sponsor for this iconic campaign. Modeled after the “Ice Bucket Challenge”, Kick The Kettle is designed to reach and engage Bell County residents with the goal to raise essential funds supporting year-round services at The Salvation Army. This will ideally involve businesses, organizations, corporations, and private companies – a ripple in the pond approach – and together we can make a difference. KCENTV News personalities and staff will donate and Kick The Kettle to their chosen entity, announcing the challenge on newscasts at 5 PM and 6 PM. Once the challenge is made and accepted, a kettle will be delivered to the nominated entity with instructions to collect donations before kicking it to their chosen individual or company. If preferred, participation can also be via QR code, providing a convenient, digital option for giving. To help spread the word even further, we ask the challenge/nomination of the next site to receive the kettle be videoed and posted on the current business’ social media and tag The Salvation Army of Bell County. Funds collected will support the year-round services of The Salvation Army including shelter for men, women, families, and Veterans, daily meals, food pantry, emergency financial assistance and more. Individual case management services offered at The Salvation Army remain available to clients for up to two years providing ongoing support to individuals and families with the goal of successfully becoming self-sustained.
