The project is scheduled to have a duration of four months. A map of the updated closure is attached. Detours will be implemented in the area, as needed, with advance notice given. Drivers should use caution and pay attention to all traffic control devices. Residents with questions may contact the City of Temple Engineering Division at 254-298-5660. TRAFFIC ADVISORY First St. Underground Project scheduled to begin May 23 VIEW THE PROJECT MAP TEMPLE, TX (May 17, 2022) – The First St. Underground Project is scheduled to begin Monday, May 23 with a duration of four months. Crews will remove the overhead power lines that are located in the alley adjacent to the parking lot on First St. and bury new power lines underground from Ave. B to the alley between the ExtraCo building and Texell Credit Union. This work will move from south to north as the job progresses. During construction, there will be limited-to-no access to the alley between First St. and Main St., from north of Ave. A. to Ave. B. A portion of the parking lot at First St. will close on Sunday, May 22, as it will serve as a storage area for materials and a clear work space. See attached project map.
