City of Temple launches new website New platform features newly designed Library, Parks and Rec subsites Temple residents may notice something different when they visit the city’s website. The City of Temple has launched its new website at www.templetx.gov that is focused on improving access to information and public services as well as increasing community engagement. “We are focused on improving the quality of life for our residents, and that includes improving our residents’ digital experience with us,” Marketing and Communications Director Heather Bates said. “Our new site is beautiful and is easy to work with. It’s informative, interactive and user-friendly – all the things we want to provide for our residents.” The most notable change with the new website is the new subpages for both the Library and Parks and Recreation department. The library site features new titles, an online catalog and integrates with the library social media pages. It is a complete redesign from the previous version, which was hosted externally from the city’s web services. The new Parks and Rec site features an online activity guide, programs and events, park facilities and an updated calendar system. “Our Library site will be such an enhancement for our patrons. It’s been some time since that site was updated,” Logue said. “The Parks and Rec site is outstanding and will be a great benefit to help our residents love where they live even more.” The dynamic website will feature beautiful photographs and videos that show off Temple’s community character, a robust newsroom and easier access to signing up for city newsletters and alerts, according to Communications Manager Jonathan Logue. It also has a responsive web design that automatically scales the site to fit browsers on computers, tablets and smartphones. “The citizen-friendly features and interaction available on this website made it a no-brainer when we chose it,” Bates said. “Users will be able to search for items easily and find the information they are looking for a variety of ways.” The change also saves the city more than $17,000 over the life of the contract. Bates encourages residents to familiarize themselves with the new site and enjoy its new features. To contact staff regarding updates or changes to the new site, email web@templetx.gov. “Overall, it is our goal to provide exceptional service without exception to our residents, businesses and visitors and this website achieves that and more,” Bates said.
