Construction to Alter Traffic Pattern on Midway Drive Lane closure to begin Monday, Aug. 31 TEMPLE, TX (August 25, 2020) – One eastbound lane of Midway Drive will close for approximately three months beginning Monday, Aug. 31, as part of the Bird Creek Interceptor Sanitary Sewer Project. During the closure, the left-hand turn lane will be repurposed as an eastbound lane of traffic. The construction zone is east of the school zone for Bonham Middle School. The Temple Independent School District will provide additional information to parents before the start of school on Sept. 8. All efforts will be made to limit construction during pick-up and drop-off times. As construction progresses, access will be maintained for local residents. Residents with inquiries about the project should reach out to the City of Temple Engineering Department at 298-5660. Drivers should use caution in the area. Pay attention to traffic control devices and watch for students. The Bird Creek Interceptor Sanity Sewer Project will replace the aging sewer with a new, larger line. The current degraded sewer system allows allow rainwater to seep in and put a burden on the wastewater collection system. Replacing this line will upgrade capacity and prevent future overflow events.
