Shawn Reynolds Begins Role as Chief of Police TEMPLE, TX (June 2, 2020) – Shawn Reynolds officially took the role Monday as the City of Temple’s top law enforcement official. The U.S. Navy Veteran was chosen last month from a field of more than 50 candidates. As Chief of Police, Reynolds will lead a department that is comprised of 154 sworn police officers and 39 civilian support staff members. "I am honored to serve the City of Temple alongside the men and women of the Temple Police Department," Reynolds said. "I am committed to fostering positive relationships with the community while promoting the physical and emotional health of our officers." City Manager Brynn Myers said Reynolds exhibited several qualities that made him an ideal candidate to lead Temple PD. "We are excited to welcome Chief Reynolds to Temple. His diverse experience in all areas of law enforcement speaks for itself, but Chief Reynolds has also shown to be a dedicated servant who leads by example," Myers said. "His desire to engage with the community set him apart during the interview process. I am confident he will be a valuable asset for the Temple Police Department and the community as a whole." Reynolds comes to Temple from the City of Olathe, Kansas, where he most recently served as Deputy Chief of Police over the Operations Bureau. Reynolds joined the Olathe Police Department in 1996 and has risen through the ranks, holding positions of sergeant, lieutenant, captain, detective, undercover operative, field training officer, major, and investigations commander. He also served as an officer with the Leavenworth Police Department from 1994-1996. Chief Reynolds will spend his first days meeting with City officials and various units within the department.
