Empowering the Hands that Heal.

About us

Kindred’s mission is to help our patients reach their highest potential for health and healing with intensive medical and rehabilitative care through a compassionate patient experience. Kindred’s 61 long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs), along with 18 community-based, short-term acute care hospital campuses from across the nation, became part of ScionHealth with its launch in December 2021. Cornerstone Healthcare Group joined the ScionHealth family of hospitals and hospital services in January 2023. In December 2021, Kindred Healthcare became a part of LifePoint Health, a leading healthcare company. As part of this transaction, LifePoint and Kindred also launched a new company, ScionHealth. Today, Kindred’s facilities are now part of either LifePoint or ScionHealth. Specifically, Kindred’s 61 long-term acute care hospitals – along with 18 community-based, short-term acute care hospital campuses from LifePoint – are now a part of ScionHealth.

Listen Here: https://lnkd.in/g-sEYCzf As patient acuity and hospital capacity issues rise, specialty facilities like long-term acute care hospitals are playing a crucial role in managing risks and costs. In this session, you'll hear how Louisville, Ky.-based ScionHealth is doing just that with its specialty hospitals, including Kindred Hospitals, Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals and Solara Specialty Hospitals. These facilities do not solely cater to ventilator patients exceeding 25 days of stay; they also provide advanced care for patients with a wide range of complex conditions prone to readmission and can do so in less than 25 days. During our session, you will gain insights into how these specialized sites of care are reducing length of stay and improving outcomes for complex patients, making them important strategic partners in maximizing quality and cost-effectiveness. This episode is sponsored by ScionHealth (https://lnkd.in/g4wt5whW). For more information about Becker's Healthcare, please contact Jessica Cole or Scott Becker. #podcast #healthcare #specializedcare

March 30 is National Doctors’ Day, an annual observance honoring the skill and commitment of physicians nationwide who provide high-quality healthcare to the patients and communities they serve. The date chosen marks the first time a physician used an anesthetic during surgery in 1842, but the recognition more broadly celebrates the contributions of physicians in their pivotal role of safeguarding and improving the well-being of patients. At ScionHealth, we witness the expertise, compassion and leadership physicians bring to our care teams daily at our 100+ facilities across 28 states. Our doctors are driven to help others, and their work is often life-changing and even life-saving. On Doctors’ Day and every day, we are inspired by our physicians and the expert care they provide. From ScionHealth to all of our physician partners, thank you, and Happy Doctors’ Day!

March is National Nutrition Month, which is an occasion for us to recognize the huge importance of nutrition and dietetics in the recovery of our specialty hospital patients, with our efforts led by expert dietitians working in our hospitals. Last fall, Kindred Hospitals was overjoyed to see one of our clinical dietitians, Jade Moore of Kindred Hospital Chattanooga, honored with ScionHealth’s Monarch Caring and Community Award as one of the organization’s caregivers of the year. You can learn more about Jade and the compassionate work that she and dietitians like her perform on a daily basis by reading the story and watching the video profile linked below.

During March, we are proud to join organizations and individuals around the country in celebrating Women’s History Month as a time to honor and recognize the historic accomplishments and contributions of women in all facets of our culture and society — often in the face of gender stereotyping, sexual discrimination and other forms of inequality. We hope you’ll find meaningful ways this month and throughout the year to learn about women’s history and to support and empower women.

Battling deep-seated prejudice against women and Black Americans in medicine, Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, became the first Black woman to earn a medical degree in the United States in 1864. After graduating from the New England Female Medical College, she treated Civil War refugees before becoming the first Black person to publish a medical book, focusing on best practices for good health for women and children. This Black History Month, we applaud Rebecca’s pioneering achievements.
