Friends of The Temple Public Library Labor Day Used Book Sale

By: Friends of the Temple Public Library for the June 2021 Temple Chamber Focus on Business

Organized in March of 1965 by the late Mrs. Keifer Marshall, Jr., Friends of the Temple Public Library is a non-profit organization that supports the library by enhancing its resources, encouraging literacy, increasing access to information and knowledge, and influencing the love of reading in the community.

For more than 30 years, the organization has held used book sales as the major fund-raising project with all proceeds going to the library. Carol Hodge, a member of the organization stated, "the Friends of the Temple Public Library have an important role in the community, supporting programs and supplying materials to the library that are not available with tax dollars…enhancing our public life."

The organization is currently raising funds for a new bookmobile for the library, subscriptions for e-books, and youth and adult programs.

Support the Friends of the Temple Public Library at their Labor Day Used Book Sale, which begins with a Members Preview Day on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, and will continue through Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the McLane Room on the third floor of the Temple Public Library.
