The Change Healthcare hack incidents have raised our collective consciousness regarding health information security. In today's Health Populi blog, I kick off a three-part series of conversations with Richard Kaufmann, CISO with Amedisys, on his professional approach to info security for the major home and palliative care provider, and his personal evolution getting to this point. In this first of 3 dialogues, we cover a lot of ground, starting with Richard's early mischievous days of hacking to crossing the chasm securing information for health care delivered at home. What I see as one of Richard's secrets-in-the-sauce is his view on collaborating with patients and caregivers – with technology only one part of a longer recipe that bakes in empathy, community, and hugs.
